Work With Matt

Experience That Equips

Ā

With 25 years of pastoral ministry experience, I've dedicated my life to helping believers move from lazy faith to living hope. As Lead Pastor of Journey Church in Huntersville, NC, I understand the challenges churches face in engaging their members, developing leaders, and creating cultures where people encounter God's truth and experience genuine transformation.

I bring a unique blend of theological depth and practical application to every speaking engagement. Whether you need a weekend series, leadership training, staff development, or conference keynote, I deliver uncompromising biblical truth with laughter and compassion—creating an environment where people don't just hear God's Word, but discover how to live it out in their everyday lives.

My passion for equipping leaders extends beyond local church ministry. I serve on the board of The Cypress Project, where I train pastors internationally in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Kenya—bringing accessible, life-changing teaching to church leaders around the globe. This cross-cultural experience has sharpened my ability to communicate complex biblical concepts in ways that connect with diverse audiences.

Spiritual Gifts Discovery & Activation

One of my core specialties is helping individuals and churches unlock the transformative power of spiritual gifts. My book, Gifted On Purpose For Purpose, provides a comprehensive framework for understanding Motivational, Ministry, and Manifestation gifts—moving beyond basic gift identification to show how our unique wiring serves God's kingdom in every domain of life, not just within church walls.

I offer tailored seminars, breakout sessions, and multi-week teaching series that guide your people through discovering their spiritual gifts and learning how to activate them practically. These events create breakthrough moments where people finally understand why God made them the way He did and how to steward their gifts with confidence and purpose.

Pastoral Leadership Gifts

Church planters, leaders, and pastors often jump into the deep end and then realize how hard it is to keep their head above the ministry waters. Having someone like Matt Dawson come alongside leaders to help pull them into a life raft is mission critical for effective and sustainable leadership. Matt is a trusted and seasoned leader who has a passion and calling to serve churches and leaders. I highly recommend having Matt in your corner.Ā

ā€œMatt is a creative, but practical thinker with a huge heart for church planters and pastors. His passion to encourage and resource leaders to be efficient and effective is rooted in his commitment to help them spend more time in the ā€˜harvest’ and mobilize their people to do the same. I’ve appreciated Matt’s optimism, creativity, and pragmatism in giving leadership to me and The Cypress Project.ā€

"One of the best things about talking with Matt is that you know he’s in the trenches of ministry too…he’s experienced the highs and lows of leadership, knows what it takes to lead a local church to thrive, and brings expert wisdom from a place of authenticity and humility. He’s speaking from real-life experience, and in real time. The local church needs as much of that as it can get! Matt’s heart for people - and pastors - shines through everything he does.ā€

"Matt was one of the first pastors I connected with after I felt called to plant in Charlotte. Ever since our first meeting he has been generous with all of his resources. He's spent hours with me guiding me through pastoral decisions, he's connected me to a healthy church/pastor network, he's even taken my family out to dinner! A common complaint from church planters is feeling "alone" or "disconnected." Matt has played a key role in me being connected and supported."
